Worship & Arts Objectives

All
of us in the Worship & Arts ministry share a common goal:
to
be "worshippers
leading others to connect with God." This is foremost in our
minds as we pick songs to sing, plan services, select drama material,
rehearse
together... and in almost everything we do.

We
are worshippers first.

We
want to be people who worship God. Our first responsibility is to make
sure that we are worshipping God, giving
Him our best,
and
serving
Him with a heart of love and devotion. It is only then that we
can be ready to lead others along that same journey. Several scriptures
clearly
articulate our desire...

  • "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." (Psalm
    150:6)
  • "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God the
sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name." (Hebrews
    13:15)
  • "I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually
be in my mouth." (Psalm 34:1)

We
are worshippers leading others.

Our
ministry exists to help lead others to the throne room of God, and
into His presence. So, as we worship,
we then lead
others
and
encourage them to go with us into God's presence...

  • Psalm
22:3 says that He inhabits the praises of His people.
  • "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who
called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1
    Peter 2:9)

We
are worshippers leading others to connect with God.

As
we worship, then as we lead others in worship, our goal becomes one
of connection
with God. We try to plan services
that are
meaningful, full of energy, and ultimately point
us in the direction of experiencing
God in a fresh and relevant way. That may come through
the words of the
songs that we sing, or through a drama segment or
video clip, or through the words of the sermon. But hopefully,
we all
leave with
a sense of
renewed purpose, direction, hope, strength, peace,
joy, or trust in God.

  • "I will sing of Your strength, in the morning I will sing of
Your love; for You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble." (Psalm
    59:16)
  • "Enter
His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise."(Psalm
    100:4)
  • "And renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psalm
    51:10)

So,
that's why we do what we do.

Worship sites

Here are some links to some sites that feature some great worship recordings.

Integrity Music:   http://www.integritymusic.com/
Once you're there, click on "Music" in the stores buttons on the left, then "browse" for Hillsongs, Vertical Music, Hosanna Music, or Integrity Music. Any of those categories will get you into some nice CD's.

WorshipTogether:   http://www.worshiptogether.com/store/
Here you will find Passion Band, Tim Hughes, and many more.

Amazon:   http://www.amazon.com
Go to the search button, enter Popular Music, then worship, and you be get to a lot of good stuff, with good prices.

There are lots of good sites out there. The ones I have mentioned are just several that I have personally dealt with and have found good products, good service, & reliable people.

Hope this helps.

First post - why a blog on worship?

Ok, so this is my first posting. I guess it better be good, huh? Well, here goes...

Worship, worshipping God, helping others to worship God, leading worship, teaching about worship, studying worship, exploring worship, living a lifestyle of worship -  is what I am all about. It is what I have become. It is what I do. It is what I live for. It is what drives me.

Obviously, I feel strongly about it.

I would hope that everyone would want to experience God in ways that I have through times of worship. It is when I worship, that I really sense God's closeness, his love for me, his majesty, his grace, his forgiveness. Sometimes it is just me, sitting at the piano or keyboard, playing whatever comes from the heart. Sometimes it is during times of worship together with other Christians, whether at church, or in a rehearsal, or maybe as I listen to a CD of a worship time.

At any rate, I would like to create a place where other worshippers can come and express their thoughts on worship. As you read my thoughts, feel free to respond. I would like to include scripture passages that are meaningful, worship songs that are really connecting with people, CD's that are available, and anything else that relates to what's going on in the world of worship these days.

That's it for now. Thanks for listening.
Ron
